Mastering the Art of Custom Karaoke with PCDJ’s Karaoki Feature - Build Your Own Playlist!

**Karaoke Song Books are a standard tool-of-the-trade for KJs. You print our your song book and bring to your gigs so your singers can browse your song selection and make requests.

Thankfully, if you’re a PCDJ Karaoki karaoke software user you don’t need third-party software to create great looking karaoke song books for your singers. The latest release of PCDJ Karaoki has export and print capabilities built right in!

For the sake of this blog post not getting too long winded, we’ll focus on exporting song books from our KJ software PCDJ Karaoki, and importing them into Excel (other spreadsheet applications such as what comes with Apache’s free Open Office suite will work just as well).

Creating Song Books with PCDJ Karaoki:

Launch PCDJ Karaoki karaoke software from your desktop
On the left side of the karaoke song browser, under MY LIBRARY (where your own created cases are stored) Right-Click on any of your created cases (you can do the same for the Karaoke Cloud Pro case if you’re a subscriber)
From the drop down menu, select “Export Case As TSV” (For an detailed explanation on what a TSV file is, please visit HERE )
A dialog box will pop up asking where you would like to save the TSV file to, we suggest saving it to your Windows Desktop. You can also rename the songbook file at this point, but it will automatically name it the same name as the case you selected to export.
Now the TSV file should be located on your desktop
Next you want to open up Microsoft Excel (or comparable spreadsheet app such as the one included with the aforementioned Open Office)
Once Excel is open, you will want to make sure it’s not in full screen mode, and that you can view your Windows Desktop behind it. You want to be able to see the TSV file you’ve saved to your desktop at the same time.
Now, drag and drop the TSV files saved to your desktop into Excel, into the large fields area of the Excel spreadsheet where data populates.
**Immediately, the TSV file will populate the fields in Excel perfectly. Artist will be in an Artist field, and Title in Title – and so on. You can now easily remove any fields you don’t want to print out in your song book, and format however you wish with ease. All you have to do from there is print!

If you are using another spread sheet application such as the included app with Open Office , you will have to open the TSV file from within the application. Open the spreadsheet application, click file and open at the top – select the TSV. In order for it to automatically format the TSV like Excel does, you must select the TAB separation method.
